Least Favorite Tracks: inferno, blood bunny

Review: Yeule's Softscars is their biggest step away from the glitch pop genre to date, almost bordering on grunge. Yeule is said to have been heavily inspired and influenced by the work of Canadian pop musician Grimes, and this is clearly heard throughout their discography, but Yeule has arguably already surpassed their idol. The album perfectly blends the intense, raw, Deftones-esque sound of songs like xwx with the laid-back palate cleanser’s such as Fish in a Pool and Sulky Baby. The only things holding this album back are the sometimes grating instrumentation and one or two hit-or-miss songs in between.

Final Score: 8/10
